The Nashville Association of Art Dealers (NAAD), a large art gallery membership located in neighborhoods across Nashville,  continues its citywide gallery alliance with Art After Hours on First Thursday, February 4, 5pm to 8pm.  This monthly art event provides art lovers and patrons an opportunity to explore Nashville’s diverse and growing art scene.  

PARTICIPATING GALLERIES
  • Cumberland Gallery (Green Hills) will host a fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee with a show entitled Food Feeds People.  All artwork is food related and a portion of sales will be donated to Second Harvest.  In addition Paulette Licitra, publisher and editor, will read from Alimentum -The Literature of Food - the only literary magazine dedicated to the literature of food. She and other writers will begin their readings at 6:30 p.m. Donations of non-perishable food items or money will be requested at the door;    
  • Frist Center for the Visual Arts presents “Artist's Forum,” a free program in which Nashville-based and regional emerging and recognized artists discuss the thoughts and processes behind their work.  Speakers will be Kristi Hargrove,Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at Watkins College of Art, Design, and Film and Iwonka Waskowski, artist and Career Service Coordinator at Watkins College. The evening will also feature free music of the Storm Kings.  Feel free to bring beverages and snacks from the café to the lobby to enhance your listening experience;
  • Gallery One (Belle Meade Galleria) will be featuring works by over 25 gallery artists;
  • LeQuire Gallery  (near Sylvan Park) showcases Alan LeQuire's Cultural Heroes to honor Black History Month.  This event includes the opportunity to view the initial construction of the 40" wooden armature of LeQuire's newest addition, Josh White, to the Cultural Heroes series;
  • Local Color (on Broadway) continues "Large Works," featuring large scale pieces from gallery artists;
  • Parthenon, East Gallery (Centennial Park) presents the exhibition “The Fiery Gizzard Series:  Paintings by Susan Goshgarian McGrew.  She focuses her work on the Fiery Gizzard River area, which is part of the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee.  Also on view will be paintings by John Kingerlee in an exhibit entitled, “What Lies Beneath.”  (admission fee to the galleries for non-members); 
  • Richland Fine Art (Green Hills) celebrates a “Winter Break” theme!  Chase away the winter blues by enjoying delightful paintings of beaches and sun by outstanding painters from around the country
  • Zeitgeist (Hillsboro Village) opens the 2010 schedule with a new works on paper show featuring artists Patrick DeGuira, John Folsom, Brady Haston, and Tim Hussey; 
  • The Arts Company (downtown) previews "Jubilation: The Obama Inauguration," a series of iconic  photographs documenting last year's inauguration, by Lou Outlaw (aka. Dr. Lucius Outlaw, Associate Provost at Vanderbilt), featuring a conversation with Dr. Outlaw at 6:00 pm about this historic occasion, accompanied by his photographs of Nashville's Freedom Riders;    
  • Auld Alliance Gallery (Westgate Center, Hwy 100) features Ron York who will present the various stages of his paintings from start to completion.  Fox and Vixen & Co. will present their jewelry of mixed vintage and contemporary pieces.  Vocalist and musician Kirstie Lane will provide musical entertainment, and refreshments will be served.
